17-1's & 16-1's receive junior olympic bids!
Congratulations to the 17-1's and the 16-1's for receiving at-large bids to represent the the Southern California region at the Junior Olympics. At-large bids are given to the teams with the highest point totals in the region and which have not yet qualified. The bid process rewards consistent play over the course of the entire season and ensures that each region sends their most qualified teams. Receiving a bid is an accomplishment and honor. The 17's will compete in the Open division and the 16's in the National division this summer in Reno, Nevada. Good luck girls! |

17-2's make Pacific Northwest Finals!
![]() |
The 17-2's have continually improved this season, finishing in the bronze division in Vegas, silver at the SCVA JNQ, and now the gold and championship match at the Pacific Northwest Qualifier. The team dropped a match on day one in pool play and faced a critical reality check. The loss galvanized their determination and grit, and they played amazingly on day two to take over the 4th seed and place them in the championship bracket. The road to the finals included impressive wins over Sidout NBC and Club West's 17 Gold. The championship match was then nothing short of spectacular. Vision's 17 Blue won game one 25-23, then jumped out to an early lead in game two. The girls overcame the six point deficit to win 28-26. They fell just short of earning the Junior Olympic bid with a heartbreaking loss in the third game with a final score of 17-15. It was an amazing weekend. The girls played with passion and resolve and well represented 951 Elite. Congratulations 17-2's! |

951 Elite Volleyball Club is proud to announce the addition of Kip Yoshimura. Yoshimura's resume is extensive, including most recently seven years as head volleyball coach for Division I Gonzaga University. Prior to Gonzaga, Yoshimura was head volleyball coach for Lewis-Clark State College (1993-2001). Assistant positions included Weber State and Long Beach State, where he helped lead The Beach to a national championship in 1989. Yoshimura is currently serving as interim assistant coach for UC Davis and will join 951 Elite at the completion of his obligations. |
With two national championships and over 60 college commitments in the past three years, 951 Elite has proven to be one of the premier volleyball in clubs the country. The addition of Yoshimura to the coaching staff further exemplifies 951 Elite's desire to continue growing and improving. "We are very pleased that Kip will be joining us," says club director Dennis Palpallatoc. "Not only will he coach one of our older travel teams and help with recruiting, but has also shown the desire to work with our younger kids as well. We have been very successful at the top, and are now focusing on winning at the 12's, 13's and 14's. Kip's knowledge and experience will help us win at all age levels." |

17-1s win gold at the junior olympics!

The 17-1's had a golden experience at the Junior Olympics in 2009, literally. Picked as the gold medal favorite, the squad did not disappoint. They did not drop a game until the semi-final match against Golden West, where they mounted a Hollywood style come from behind win to make up the 9-12 deficit in the final game and win 16-14. They moved into the championship match where their confidence and depth overwhelmed the opposition. They represent 951 Elite's first ever Junior Olympic gold medallists. Denise DeVine and Michelle Waber were selected to the all-tournament team, and setter-captain Johnna Fouch was named tournament MVP. View photos here. |
