Dennis Palpallatoc is the owner and head coach of 951 Elite. Dennis has over 20 years of successful coaching experience at all the different levels. He was voted the 1996 National Coach of the Year after winning an NCCAA National Championship with Christian Heritage College. He has coached many top ranked club teams including winning a National Title in 2005 with his Vintage 17-1 Team. As a player he was a Gold Medalist at the 1991 US National Championships with Team Nike/Paul Mitchell. |

Gene began college coaching in 1981. 13 seasons divided up at Warner Pacific, Western Oregon, We, Cal Poly Pomona and California Baptist University. During that time his team won the National Christian College championship ( he was National Coach of the year),N National Championship Finalist ( Regional Coach of the Year) and was NCAA and Volleyball Monthly's coach of the year while at Cal Poly! Gene owned and ran Riverside Volleyball club for ten year before "retiring".Then, in 2000 resurfaced as Varsity coach at KING high school and rejoined the club circuit. His high school teams have won league championships in 7 of the 11 years he has been at King, earning him 6 coach of the year distinctions. Gene supervised the coaches at 951 Riverside and has a free court to work on specialty position with members of all 5 teams at their location. Gene's son Tyler is a successful High school coach and former setter for California Baptist University, daughter Karlie played at UCSB, and Shelbie was a varsity performer at POLY high. Gene is married and lives in Corona with his wife Ashley and step daughter Paige. |

Coach Yoshimura is one of the most knowledgeable and skilled volleyball coaches in the junior club ranks with over 25 years of collegiate coaching experience. He has served as the Head Coach at NAIA national power Lewis-Clark State (ID) for nine years and NCAA Division I Gonzaga University (WA) for seven, compiling an overall collegiate record of 309-223. In his career Yoshimura was selected NAIA Region Coach of the Year six times and developed a total of sixteen All-America, twenty-five All-Region, fifty All-Conference and twenty-one All-Scholar honorees. Most recently he was the Head Assistant Coach at the University of California, Davis in 2009. Nationally recognized as a skills instructor his volleyball camps at Gonzaga University attracted over 1,000 participants annually from throughout the country. As a junior club coach, Yoshimura’s clubs and teams have competed at the highest levels, including USAV Junior Olympic medals in both boy’s and girl’s divisions. Over 100 of his junior players have gone on to play successfully at the collegiate level. At 951 Elite Volleyball Club Coach Yoshimura has been Head Coach for the 17-1 (2010) and 16-1 (2011), while also serving as an Assistant Coach for various teams the past three seasons. In addition, Yoshimura has worked with most every team and player at 951 Elite with their technical skill development. As an Associate Director for the club he works with club President and Head Coach Dennis Palpallatoc on coordinating, advising, educating and making contacts for the college recruiting process for 951 Elite athletes. |

Vanguard Head Coach Eryn Leja ends her first season as a collegiate head coach after making an impressive debut with only the VU volleyball program's second winning GSAC record and tying the highest GSAC finish in program history (10-8, tied for 4th). She also helped guide the Lions to the program's second NAIA Opening Round victory and third NAIA National Tournament Final Site appearance. Leja will soon turn her attention to replacing VU's large senior class, hoping to select a group of recruits that will mesh well with a solid core of returners, including a handful of freshmen who contributed significantly this season. As a player, Eryn spent two seasons at College of the Desert, where she led the program as a two-time team captain.She garnered first-team all-conference recognition in both campaigns, and earned the team MVP award twice. In addition, Leja was awarded COD's Female "Athlete of the Year" in 2007. Following her time at College of the Desert, Leja attended U.C. Riverside, where she redshirted in 2007. Leja then transferred to Chapman University the following year, and played two seasons for the Panthers. As a senior in 2009-2010, Leja was named a team captain and earned second-team All-Independent conference honors. Leja was also a successful coach during her playing career. In 2009, Leja was an assistant coach for the 951 Elite 17's, who captured a gold medal at the Junior Olympics in Miami, Florida. The following season, she continued in her role for the Elite 18's. Leja has also coached two seasons for the Desert Sports Volleyball Club in Palm Desert, California. "I love the family-like atmosphere of Vanguard," Leja stated. "As well as the values, morals, and character of the individuals I will be working with." Leja graduated from Chapman in 2010, and is pursuing a Master's Degree in Sports Administration. Leja is single and lives in Huntington Beach. |

Meredith has been playing volleyball for 12 years. She began playing in 6th grade, continued to play in high school and college and hopes to continue her career overseas. She played high school volleyball as well as club for several years before being selected for SCVA High Performance teams that traveled to Utah and parts of Europe in the summers of 2005 and 2006. At the conclusion of her junior year, she committed to Rice University in Houston, TX on a full athletic scholarship and signed the following year. Meredith had a successful college volleyball career at Rice as a four-year starter for the Owls. In her sophomore (2008) and junior (2009) seasons she was selected to Conference-USA First Team, AVCA All-Midwest Regional Team, and AVCA All-America Honorable Mention. In 2008, College Volleyball Update (CVU.com) named her one of the nation’s top five setters. In 2009, CVU.com named her National Setter of the Year in addition to National Player of the Week for the week of November 23rd. Furthermore, she led her team to a win in the conference championship and was named Conference USA Championship MVP and C-USA Co-Setter of the Year. She ended the season ranked 3rd in NCAA for assists/set. The Rice Owls received a bid to the NCAA tournament in 2008 and secured a spot in the 2009 NCAA tournament with an outright conference win. In her last season as an Owl (2010) she became the all-time assist leader for Rice, collecting 5,190 assists in her career. In addition to playing, Meredith has coached for the past 5 years. She coached summer camps at Rice for all ages and skill level including top recruits who attend Elite Camp at the conclusion of the summer each year. Meredith graduated from Rice in May 2010 with a bachelor of science in both Health Sciences and Policy Studies with an area focus in Healthcare Management. She hopes to continue playing volleyball overseas in Europe this coming fall. |

Sondra graduated from Hueneme High School where she was the Channel League MVP, Team MVP and made Honorable Mention for C.I.F., as a setter and defensive specialist. In her 4 years of Varsity Volleyball, her team compiled a record of 48-2. She also played club volleyball for Southern California Volleyball Club. Sondra then received a scholarship to play volleyball at NCAA Division 1 School Boise State University. Sondra was a four year starter for the Lady Broncos. After completing her degree at Boise State, Sondra coached in both Boise and Ventura County where she coached for several years at her former club- Southern California Volleyball Club. She has also coached at West Coast Volleyball Club and Boise Volleyball Club. In 2008 Sondra coached the Ramona Freshman team to a league championship. The following year, she went on to coach Riverside North as their Varsity coach. In 2010 and 2011, Sondra is the co-head varsity coach with Gene Krieger which took 2nd and 1st place in the Big VIII league and in both years earned CIF playoff berths. Both Sondra and Gene were honored as coaches of the year for the Big VIII in 2011. Also, Sondra currently teaches special education at King High School. This is Sondra second year coaching for 951 Elite Volleyball Club. After evaluating several clubs in the Southern California area, Sondra has decided to stay local and develop players around the Orangecrest/Woodcrest area. She is committed to bring a higher level of volleyball to area players. Sondra feels that the 951’s program brings a blend of the best aspects of club volleyball. Sound fundamental teaching and love for the game, competent, passionate, ethical coaches, along with parents that support and interact with each other like family. Sondra is excited to be part of the 951 Elite team this year as their 16’s coach. |
